Announcement: Welcome

by Carolyne on July 31, 2010

Welcome to my website

It was constructed in order to provide quick and easy links to the many online resources that I find useful or interesting (or both).

In addition I use it to archive and access my own work easily–whether academic or mainstream (see under the ‘Publications’ tab at top right, and as well my publications are listed and hyperlinked below). To be found here also are links to the photography of website manager Andrew McRae.

My work currently (2014-2015) includes part-time lecturing/researching, working on a variety of translations, as well as consulting in the area of effective communication, such as clear writing, online marketing, or editing.

My recent writing published in mainstream media

Lee, Carolyne. Life and death decisions (feature article).  In  The Saturday Paper,  June 21st 2014.

Lee, Carolyne. A failure. Translation from the French short story ‘Une panne’ from Bernard Comment’s collection Tout Passe (Paris: Christian Bourgeois, 2011), winner of the 2011 Goncourt Prize for the short story, in Meanjin, March 2014.

Quote of the moment:

‘We tell ourselves stories in order to live. … We interpret what we see, select the most workable of the multiple choices. We live entirely… by the imposition of a narrative line upon disparate images, by the “ideas” with which we have learned to freeze the shifting phantasmagoria which is our actual experience.’    Joan Didion, The White Album
